issue messy divorce … I hope that there is a simple answer !!..?
Nine years ago I married a Japanese woman, our wedding was in Florida. We registered our marriage in Japan as well. Two years ago, we have a mutual consent "divorce in Japan. It is done in the municipality, there in court. I understand that these types of divorces may or may not be recognized in the United States. So … How I can do "officer" in Latin? I asked U.S. consulate here, but they were not very helpful …. it is not surprising. I live in Japan (like my ex) so that going to court in the U.S. is not now possible. Is it possible to have a lawyer do this for me in absentia? Also, my permanent address in the U.S. is in Connecticut. Is that where I should receive the sentence of divorce – even though my ex-husband is a Japanese citizen and the marriage is registered in Florida? Thanks in advance for your help …
