How to Have Your Dream Wedding Dress Without Breaking the Bank

If you are one of the many couples who became engaged between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, congratulations!  And while the uncertain economy will probably not stop you from tying the knot, it may affect your wedding budget and how much is spent on your wedding dress.  Here are some ideas on how to get that dream wedding dress for your big day without breaking the bank.

Set a budget.  Look at all the expenses for your wedding and decide if there are some adjustments you are willing to make in certain expenses (such as food or reception hall) so that more money can be allocated for your wedding dress.

Style of wedding ceremony.  Depending on the type of wedding ceremony you choose to have (traditional, informal, indoors, outdoors) you may want a wedding dress that reflects the style of the ceremony.  If that ceremony is short, simple and informal, you won’t need to spend a lot of money on a couture, high-fashion wedding dress.  Of course, the wedding should reflect your personal style, so choose your wedding dress and ceremony to match your style and whatever makes you feel comfortable.

Be a smart shopper.  Do your research online and off-line to find the best deals in wedding attire and accessories.  Researching online to find discount and affordable wedding dresses will give you an idea of what types of wedding dresses are available and price ranges.  You can then take that information and look for a local bridal store that can offer comparable prices for wedding dresses as well as various deals and discounts on additional wedding products and services.  Purchasing your wedding dress locally from a reputable bridal store at a good price would be the best option.  You are able to try on the dress and be fitted at the store and if there were problems, you could handle them in person at the shop.  If you are not able to find a bridal store to purchase your wedding dress locally, then you may want to consider ordering it from one of the many  online discount and wholesale bridal stores.  But remember to give yourself enough lead time when ordering your wedding dress online in the event you need to have  it altered.

Remember that details add to the cost of your wedding dress.  Exquisite craftsmanship in a wedding dress adds to its value and price.  Things such as hand embellishments, the bustier, luxurious lining, rich fabric, detailed finishing and machine stitch work all add to the beauty and cost of a wedding dress.

Consider going vintage.  If vintage is your style, you may find your dream wedding dress in a second-hand store at an affordable price.  Or better yet, you may find it in a relative’s attic who would be more than willing to let you have the wedding dress for you to wear on your big day.

Rent it.  Many “green” brides are starting to consider the idea of “reusing” their wedding dress by renting it instead of purchasing a gown.  When you consider what you are really spending your money on (a once-in-a-lifetime dream dress) that will only be used once and then be placed somewhere in a box never to be taken out again, renting your dream wedding dress becomes more affordable.

The most important thing to remember when looking for your wedding dress is don’t compromise your style for your budget.   The key is to find a gown that fits both your budget and style preference.  With a little work and planning, you can have the wedding dress of your dreams without breaking the bank.

Helping You Find The Perfect Ivory Wedding Dress Ever

Just when it’s time for your big wedding day there is one very important consideration particularly for the bride. That’s her wedding dress. Every bride desires a wedding dress that not only reflects her persona but looks gorgeous on her. In spite of the different styles and colors of wedding dresses that are available, the perfect choice for a majority of women is an ivory wedding dress. It not only complements every skin tone but irrespective of its length, it fits in perfectly with any wedding ceremony.

In recent years an ivory wedding dress is an in-style preference to have a wedding on the beach. In fact a number of people fit in their honeymoon plans into their wedding plans by hosting the ceremony and the reception on the beach. A short ivory wedding dress can add a tropical feel to the occasion.

For a very formal wedding, you can also have an ivory wedding dress. Some women envision a wedding dress with a long train and yard and yards of lace. Of course you have the option to either find an ivory wedding dress that has these details or you can always have a dress made specifically designed for you.

In terms of practicality many brides nowadays choose on a wedding dress that can be worn again. This normally would be a shorter length ivory wedding dress with minimal bead or lace detail on it. Perhaps a good alternative would be if you are considering this approach is a dress with a small jacket as this can be worn to many functions. Obviously selecting this type of dress is a good investment as the bride can get quite a bit of wear out of it.

For those who have budgeting concerns may want to consider purchasing a used ivory wedding dress. Even though this may seem less than desirable it’s important to remember that a wedding dress is not worn for too long on the wedding day. Hence most wedding dresses are in perfect condition. There are a number of ways one can purchase an used ivory wedding dress. Your first stop could be to visit a local used clothing show. At this place many women offers their wedding dresses on consignment; just the right place to find lots of wonderful treasures. Another great venue for finding used clothing is the Internet. Auction sites have hundreds of clothing items for sale including wedding dresses. In case you do come across an ivory wedding dress on one of these sites there will certainly be a picture to view. Hence this offers an opportunity to compare different styles and decide on which one best suit you.

When the wedding is over you may want to preserve your dress so you can pass it on to your daughter for her wedding day. Make sure to take it to an experienced dry cleaner who will be able to clean it and pack it so it will withstand the test of time until its needed again.

Bridal Bouquet

Bridal Bouquet Ideas – Lighting Up The Wedding Ambience

Other than being an item to be held by the bride, it may seem like there is no other use for the wedding bouquet that the bride orders. But this bridal bouquet has many more meaningful gestures and interesting activities attached to it.

There are several possibilities during the course of the wedding. One could be traditional and supply a bouquet for both the bride’s mother as well as the groom’s. Generally, this is appreciated by all the guests and particularly, the mothers enjoy this activity. But how about providing an interesting twist to tradition and giving flowers to both the moms and dads?

If the bride wishes to give flowers to the women, and the men, there are several ways to go about it. How about enclosing dad’s bouquet in a verse that he will read at the wedding ceremony? How about a flower that will acknowledge the family members who have passed, giving father an opportunity to remember those family members?

The bride may choose not to have the unity candle. Instead, she can make a similar gesture by designing a bridal bouquet that is put together by several smaller bouquets. This bridal bouquet can then be “split” among various family members at some auspicious moment during the ceremony. Many people may receive a share, including the fathers and mothers of the bride, as well as the groom.

Suppose the bride does not want to part with her bridal bouquet at the wedding, but she wishes to play with it at her reception, there are a couple of ideas for this as well. What about a bridal bouquet dance? It may sound silly, but it sure is fun! The wedding bouquet must be placed somewhere in the vicinity of the dance floor and each guest must make a guess about a flower in it before stepping on to the dance floor. Now, the first couple of guests may have no problem because flowers such as tulips and roses are pretty obvious. But the remaining flowers may give them a pause. Obviously, this idea will not work if the wedding bouquet is made of a single flower, but for the normal, traditional bouquet, it will work well.

To add a naughty touch to the occassion, the bride’s garter can be hidden in the bouquet and she can wear it on her leg before the groom gets to take it off. How about having a couple of smaller bouquets wrapped up in garter-belts so that the small bouquets with the garter belts are flung and hers remains intact.

When the time arrives for the bride to fling her bouquet, we have some suggestions. There are some brides who would just pluck a single flower before throwing the whole bouquet during the toss of the bridal bouquet. This idea can be adopted instead of ordering a special bouquet particularly for the bridal bouquet toss.

If there are many single women attending your wedding, a single bouquet probably won’t be enough. Nowadays most brides are beginning to opt for fun ideas. There are some options, really. One famous option is to ask your florist to make several tiny bouquets and put them together to make it look like a single large bouquet. They are held together by a tight ribbon. At the bridal toss, the bride will untie the ribbon and throw it, which are actually many small bouquets. This way, several ladies will get to catch the bouquet instead of just one.
